New Zealand's Olympics Medals

Kia Ora koutou, welcome back to my blog post. Today we didn't have sports because of the weather but instead of playing sports we searched up New Zealander Olympics. So we had to make a slide and we had to write New Zealander Olympians and what there name is, what event they did, what medal they got. Skittles

 Kia Ora everyone, 

Today in science class we did an experience with skittles. 

The aim : was to separate the colours from the skittles by using chromatography. 

The stuff that we had to use was skittles, 

1. Water, 

2. Petri dish, 

3. Beaker. 

Method:

First we had to get a petri dish and then we had to put the six skittles in the dish. 

We had to use a beaker and put 2.25ml water and after when we put the water in the beaker we had to pour the water in the petri dish. 

When we put the water in the petri dish all of the colour of the skittles was spreading around the petri dish.

Hurumanu: 3 Computer Timeline

Kia Ora Koutou lately in Hurumanu 3 we have been working on inventions. So lately we had to make a timeline and we had to choose an invention and make a timeline of google doc or google drawing. I did my timeline on google drawing and my timeline is about computers. Here it is hope you like it.

Upstander and Bystander

 Kia Ora Koutou, 

We have been studying the subject of bullying. It involves upstanders, bystanders, and victims. What is a bystander? A bystander is when if there is a problem right in front of them they would just stand there and pretend that there is nothing wrong. Some bystanders be on the bully side and they would laugh at the person who is getting hurt. Other bystanders will get involved and beat up the person that is getting hurt and be on the bully side. 

What is an upstander? An upstander is when there is a problem in front of them and they will go in the situation and help the person who is actually getting bullied and they will get an adult involved and be on the person who is getting bullied side. Some upstanders can distract the bully so the person who is getting hurt can get an adult and get help and report the incident. Upstanders can go and get help straight away so the person getting bullied won't get bullied again.  They are fully involved, unlike bystanders.

What is the invention: The invention is High speed amphibious vehicles 

Who made the invention: The person who made the invention was Alan Gibbs. 

When was the invention invented: The high speed amphibious vehicle was made in 2003. 

Why was the invention made: To travel on water and to travel on land.  

Alan Gibbs is a New Zealander born businessman. After a successful business career in New Zealand Alan Gibbs was one of the country's wealthiest individuals. 

PE/Touch Rugby

Lately for PE we are learning about touch. We have been learning how to pass the correct way for touch and we have been doing a little bit of kicking. What I have improved of in touch is my passing and a little bit of my kicking because I wasn't good at all when pass but now I have improved a lot. The part that I enjoy when I was doing touch was when the teacher gives us activities to do that can help us with touch. Hurumanu 2 Counting the Beat

 Kia Ora Koutou, 

Welcome to my blog. Today's blog post is about using the recorder. Last week we had to pick a instrument. The instrument that I picked was the recorder. There is another word for recorder and it is called the flute. 

What surprised you about the instrument: What surprised me about the recorder was that I had to put my finger behind the hole but if I didn't it wouldn't sound that good that what surprised me about the recorder. 

What did you find difficult: What I found difficult when I was playing the recorder was that if we had to make a sounds I had to put my finger on the hole to make a song and it was really difficult plus I wasn't that good playing the recorder so that was more difficult for me. 

What else do you want to know about the instrument: I want to know more of the recorder because then I can play it properly and I can play it well.

The Fox and the Kitten

Welcome back to my blog. Today in class we have been making are own story's. So my story is about The Fox and the Kitten. Hope you like my story about the Fox and the Kitten. 

The Fox and the Kitten 

A Fox came upon a Kitten straying from the basket and didn’t want to take the life of such a helpless creature without a good excuse. So the Fox said, “ You are the Kitten that insulted me last year.”

“ That is impossible, sir,” meow the Kitten “for I wasn’t even born then.”

“ Well,” said the Fox, “ You eat from my den.”

“That cannot be,” replied the Kitten, “ for I have never yet tasted chicken.”

“ You drink from my stream then,” continued the Fox.

“Indeed, sir,” said the poor Kitten, “ I have never yet drunk  everything but my mother’s water.”

“Well, anyhow,” said the Fox “I’m not going without my dinner,” and he sprang upon the Kitten and swallowed it without another word.

Sagittarius

Welcome back to my blog. In class we are learning about what does Scorpius, Bootes, Perseus, Canis, Major, Sagittarius, Andormeda, Cepheus, Gemini, Aquila, Leo, Orion, Lyra, Taurus, Virgo, and Cassiopeia mean. We had to pick one of the words and we had to search it what it means. The word that I pick is Sagittaruis. So Sagittaruis got the name from Arabic word for Bow. Stars marks the base of archer's bow. Epsilon Sagittaruis represent the archer's bow.

Guys Fawkes 5th November

Semaphore

Kia Ora koutou, 

Welcome back to my blog. Today in class we were trying to communicate by using Semaphore signals. So we made flag. How we made flags was with two rulers and 2 pieces of paper. We had to be in groups. We had to have 3 or 4 people in the group. We went outside and we had to use a piece of paper and we had to write something by using the piece of paper that we got given. Then we had to use the flags and somebody had to guess what they were trying to write.

Last day of Drama Hurumanu 2

Welcome back to my blog. Today was my last day of Hurumanu 2/Drama. 

The thing I liked about drama? 

Drama is so fun to do. I enjoy acting as well. The teachers are so wonderful and helpful. 

What I like most of drama? 

What I like most of drama is that we played really fun games and drama actually help me to get over my stage-fright.

What I didn't enjoy about drama? 

What I didn't enjoy about drama is that I had to perform in front of people that I really didn't know. 

Anything else? 

I just really enjoy doing drama this term and it has been a really nice term. I am just so happy that I don't have stage-fright anymore and I am glad that I did drama this term. Because it really help me.

Reflection Hurumanu 5 Math/PE

 Kia Ora koutou, 

Welcome back to my blog. This blog post is about me going to tell you my experience in Hurumanu 5 this term.  

What did you like? What I like in Hurumanu 5 is getting active and having fun at the same time. I really enjoy doing all the thing in Hurumanu 5. It is just so wonderful and it helps you get fitter and healthier. 

What did you enjoy most? What I enjoy most is playing competitive games with each other and having fun. I really enjoy doing the beep test and well. 

What links did you see in math? In the math links the math was kind of easy and kind of hard. I like doing math because it pushes me to my level.

Anything else? I just really enjoy doing Math/PE and it is new to me because it is my first doing it. I really like the teachers and how they are so kind and helpful towards us. This term has been just wonderful.
